Dry flower food art | Lunch Performance | Osmanthus | Memory | De Wijk In
'Dry flower food art - a fresh memory with Osmanthus' is the pilot project of the expanded sensory dimension of my ‘dry flower art’ practice.
The first try-out took place in the cozy foyer at ZIMIHC Wittevrouwen. I research the healing power of gaining resilience by putting edible dried flowers on the dining table. My goal is to highlight the social and medical value of edible dried flowers through participatory experiences.
Three (vegetarian) dishes are freshly made with Osmanthus(桂花), accompanied by warm Osmanthus tea in a ritualistic manner. While interacting with my guests/tasters during the lunch performance, I am amazed that such one type of flower could resonate with so many social topics, such as medical value, folk culture, culinary culture, and mythology.
